Information about Mississippi Best 2012
Mississippi BEST is designed to spark an interest for students
in engineering, science, and technology through participation in an exciting
sports-like technology contest. Students are challenged with building a remote-controlled
robot that accomplishes a defined task within a competitive setting.
This year the CougarBots were given two boxes of selected materials and six weeks to built a robot to compete against their competitors. We faced challenges and solutions as our engineering team solved the problem at hand—climbing a space elevator. Our marketing team figured out the “BEST” way to sell our robot. These weeks of hard work will pay off when we compete on October 27, 2012 at Armstrong Middle School (see map below). Thanks to the experience of solving a seemingly overwhelming task using simple engineering methods and old-fashioned teamwork, we will be better prepared to meet the challenges of the future.
