Meeting #1: August 24, 2012
Friday, 3:30-4:30pm. Parent/student interest meeting at the SCS lunchroom. Mr. Jordan opened in prayer. Mr. Jordan gave a short PowerPoint overview presentation about the BEST competition. Forms were distributed to those present. Twelve students expressed an initial interest.

Saturday, 2:00-4:00pm. CougarBot Kickoff meeting at the Cougar Cafe. Mr. Jordan opened in prayer, then gave brief overview of what B.E.S.T. is about, and Dr. Burgreen spoke about last year’s experiences. The team played a team building exercise. We regrouped and signed up for interest groups. Mr. Jordan ended with a reminder about the kickoff as Raspet and a prayer.

Saturday, 9:00am-3:00pm. BEST Kickoff at Raspet Flight Lab and Tee shirt design at Bost Center, MSU Campus. Learned theme and objectives for competition day, traveled to Bost Center to hold the Right After Kick-off meeting. Decided on RETURN OF THE COUGARBOTS as the theme, then discussed t-shirt design: inconclusive.

Meeting #4: September 21, 2012
Friday, 6:30-10:00pm. First design meeting at the Jordan's house. Marketing team came up with a few poster designs, and tossed around a few possibilities for outreach. Engineering team split up into to two teams, Arm design and Climbing design teams. One would focus on the arm, the other would focus on the Climbing mechanism. Ideas were proposed: Lazy Susan perpendicular to the ground, meaning arm is perpendicular to the ground, and climbing mechanism would be a spiked wheel that fit in the grooves of the pole.

Saturday, 1:00-5:00pm. First work meeting at the Jordan's house. Engineering team decided to use the spool attached to the rope as the main climbing mechanism, as it was more simple to build. Decided that base of RLV would be parallel to the ground, Arm mounted on Lazy Susan seemed like a good idea.

Friday, 6:30-10:00pm. Design meeting at the Jordan's house. Marketing team tweaked buttons, finalized goody bags and brochure, brainstormed slogan ideas, and worked on the website. We are planning to visit Grace Christian School for an outreach opportunity. Engineering team decided on securing the RLV to the pole by using PVC tubes as “wheels” with two “wheels” on the opposite side of the pole, and one on the same side of the pole as the RLV . Engineering team decided on the first section on the arm and the base for the RLV. They will continue to work on the design tomorrow.

Saturday, 1:00-5:00pm. Work meeting at the Jordan's house. Marketing team did worked on posters, and Engineering team further discussed the arm and its attachments.

Wednesday, 3:15-4:15pm. Discussion with Mrs. Loving about our display. Marketing team discussed the ideas about our exhibit, and we decided on having a walk-in booth. Bell Bldq donated screens, so we will use them as our walls, along with PVC pipe. We want a clear PVC pipe in the middle of our exhibit, and it will glow either with glowsticks or an LED flashlight. She will help us with the construction on Friday and Saturday, October 5 and 6.

Friday, 1:30-11:00pm. Work meeting at the Jordan's house. Everyone took a vote and decided on a slogan: "Cougarbots: We will rise to the challenge."The marketing team finished the goody bags, made final adjustments on the brochure, and made a bunch of posters to hang up around our school. They also started working on the booth, and have an idea about the walls (screen from screen doors). Engineering team split up into to two groups: the arm team and the carriage. The arm team started working on the specifics of the arm (how long each arm segment would be, etc) and the hand. The carriage team designed a carriage that would have eight PVC rollers, two on each side of the unistrut. One side of the carriage would be removable to be able to fit around the unistrut.

Saturday, 1:00-6:00pm. Work meeting at the Jordan's house. The marketing team spray-painted the screens black and have a definite idea on how to build the exhibit. Engineering team built prototype of arm mechanism and built a prototype of the stopping mechanism in case we kill the spool motor.
